Welcome to Year 2 Ahlberg Class

Our teachers is Mrs Palmer and our Learning Support Assistant is Mrs Amey.

In Ahlberg, we create a positive and enjoyable environment in which the children feel happy to learn and feel confident to challenge themselves.

During year 2 we encourage children to work independently and cooperatively with each other. We support the children’s learning and development of skills through a range of teaching methods including whole class, group work, paired work and individual learning opportunities.

We learn through a variety of methods and where possible, the lessons are cross-curricular and practical.

Ahlberg class will be given extra responsibilities throughout the year to encourage them to develop confidence and independence, which will ensure they have a smooth transition into key stage 2. For example:

  • Taking the lead roles in the Christmas production
  • Choosing books independently

Please ensure children have removed earrings on PE days and that they have plimsolls or trainers in school for PE days.

We change our reading books twice a week.  The children can take two reading books at a time if they are ready to.  They will also be able to choose a library book.

Homework will be set on Seesaw.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mrs Palmer

Homework is set on Seesaw - you can see instructions for using Seesaw here.

Our learning - 25 September 2020

Here are some pictures of our learning this week.

In maths we have been recognising the value of coins in money bags, using base 10 to support adding the coin values.

In PE with Col U we have been practising our ball skills including  dribbling, passing, controlling the ball using key foot movements such as 'step over and push' and changing direction away from their partner.

In our gardening with Mr Setford we have been finding fruits grown within our garden and learning about the types and age of 'fruit' that are often classed as a vegetable.

Our learning - 2 October 2020

This week in science we investigated materials.  We identified which material was most suitable for an umbrella.
